Carrie's Candle

Once a sister, always a sister

At her funeral, my family found out she was a crazy driver. Her friends Kieran told a speech about how driving with Carrie was a fright. They tried to run stoplights on their way to school. She ended by saying, I think our record was 11.

Another one is, Carrie hated taking pills, but she had to take alot. So my dad made a deal that she would take one pill a day of his choosing. So my uncle Peter called and said, "Jeff, why don't you smush all the pills together and give her that?" So my dad goes over to Carrie, who's lying on the couch in the family room. Dad says, "Carrie, what would you do if I gave you a pill the size of a fist?" Without ANY hesitation, Carrie said, "You'd get punched in the nose with it."

Even though those aren't my memories, they're great. Carrie was born January 23, 1985, and died July 6, 2003. Carrie's dead now, but she's still my sister.
