Carrie's Candle

Math Memories . . .

20 February 2004

I am sorry to say that I did not know Carrie as well as so many others, but I was lucky enough to spend a hour a day with her in our calculus class. Seeing as how our class began with over 15 people, and gradually dwindled down to about 5 at the end of the year, it was impossible not to get to know Carrie, especially since she was the only junior. Never have I seen such maturity in some one as I saw in Carrie; her intelligence and grace were palpable and she brought so much to our class. When all of us "cool seniors" were struggling and at our breaking points, Carrie was our calming force, our reminder to relax and enjoy our last year at Regina. By her mere prescence, she touched all of us, and that is something not done by many. Carrie was and will always be an exceptional in my mind, and there is no doubt that she touched any who met her, even if it was just in class. Thank you to her family for bringing up such a wonderful girl.
