By the end of the day, all the available surfaces would be laden with goodies and then we would sit down and share Marybeth’s fantastic chili. The first Christmas after Carrie left us was so hard. I know it left a huge hole for all of us and although we baked, it was not the same. This year, however, it seemed a little easier, as though the spirit of Carrie was right there with us. Scott and Cara picked up the torch and Nora being older, was a huge help and we turned out hundreds of cookies. I’m pretty sure we’re going to lose Scott next year, although I hope he’ll keep on. I’m sure he and Luke, as well as Jeff and Matt, will always be there to eat the cookies, however! I will always cherish this incredibly special time we had together.
